Water damage is the most common homeowner claim. Leak sensors are cheap, and many insurers give a discount for an automatic shutoff valve.

How to do it

Step by step

  1. Place a sensor on the floor at every water source.
  2. Connect them to the app and test by touching the probes with a wet finger.
  3. Strap-on shutoff valves mount on the main valve handle without cutting pipe.
  4. Send a photo of the install to your insurance agent and ask about a discount.
When to call a pro: In-line shutoff valves that cut into the main line: hire a plumber.
